The group is for those who have lost a loved one unexpectedly.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Beacons of Hope, presented by Highpoint Health Home Health & Hospice, is a four-week support group that was created to offer understanding, compassion and support to those who have lost someone they love through a traumatic death.

“The group is for those whose loved one has died unexpectedly, such as a car accident, fire, disaster, sudden illness, suicide or murder,” explained Rev. Patti Warning, Highpoint Health Hospice Bereavement Coordinator.  “Death in this manner may traumatize the victim’s family and friends severely.”

Traumatic grief is defined as thoughts and reactions that are intense and consequently more challenging than those usually suffered after an expected loss.  Intense bereavement can last for more than two months.

Meeting dates and times are on Tuesdays, August 13 through September 3, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Highpoint Health Home Health & Hospice offices, 370 Bielby Road, Lawrenceburg.

There is no charge to attend but registration is required.  For more information or to register, please call Rev. Warning at 812/537-8192 or 800/676-5428 or email her at pwarning@MyHPH.org.
