How about a peaceful walk along the Ohio River?

(Aurora, Ind.) - Best Foot Forward is a new “walking” grief support group presented by Highpoint Health Hospice. It will meet at Lesko Park in Aurora on Saturdays at 9:00 a.m., beginning on September 7 and running through October 26.

“Your grief journey is unique to you, but you don’t have to grieve alone,” stated Rev. Patti Warning, Highpoint Health Hospice Bereavement Coordinator. “Our compassionate, empathetic Hospice volunteers are here to offer a listening presence and walk with you as you navigate this wilderness of grief.”

Hospice volunteers will meet participants at the site of the three flags in Lesko Park, before leading them on a peaceful walk along the Ohio River.  The goal is to meet and bond with others who are also grieving the loss of a loved one. Walking can help relieve stress and tension and encourage better breathing while incorporating an uplifting and healthy activity into their weekly routine. It can also help the mourners step away from their feelings of grief for a period.

Individuals of all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Benches are located along the walkway to sit and rest.  Walkers should bring water and wear comfortable shoes.

There is no charge to attend but registration is required. For more information or to register, please call Rev. Warning at 812/537-8192 or 800/676-5428.
