Hebron Man Arrested After Intentionally Setting Fire To His Own Home

(Hebron, Ky.) – A Hebron man has been arrested for intentionally setting his home on fire.

Charles E. Mullins, 65, was taken into custody today and charged with one count of Arson 3rd Degree (Class D Felony).

Boone County Sheriff’s deputies, along with the Hebron Fire Department responded to Mullins’ home in the 2100 block of North Bend Road on Tuesday around 3:19 a.m.

During the investigation, Mullins allegedly admitted to intentionally setting the home on fire by turning on the stove’s gas burners and pouring gasoline throughout the house before lighting a piece of paper on fire and throwing it on the gasoline.

According to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Mullins stated “God told him to start the fire and then flee Kentucky.”

Mullins’ home sits in a heavily wooded area off North Bend Road near another residential home and several businesses.

No other injuries were reported, and there was no mention of damage to any of the nearby structures.

Mullins is held in Boone County Detention Center on $25,000 bond.
