Heat Advisory In Effect Into Tuesday Evening

Daytime highs will reach the mid-90's today with heat index values over 100.

(Wilmington, Oh.) – A heat advisory is in effect as heat index values are expected to surpass 100 degrees.

The National Weather Service says the advisory is in effect from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Local counties falling under the heat advisory include:

  • Franklin, Ripley, Ohio, Dearborn, and Switzerland in Indiana
  • Carroll, Gallatin, Boone, and Kenton in Kentucky
  • Hamilton County, Ohio

According to the NWS, todays forecast calls for sunny skies with a high of 95 degrees. Heat index values are expected to reach as high as 102.

Individuals are reminded to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Additionally, children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded locations. In case of heat stroke, call 911.
