Hamilton County Sheriff Issues Scam Warning

Somebody is calling and asking would-be victims to pay fines for missing court.

(Hamilton County, Oh.) - The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is warning folks about a scam.

They say a man has been making phone calls and claiming he's a member of the department.  He tells the person who answers the phone they're either wanted or have missed a court appearance.  He then asks to meet them at Sheriff's District Three to pay their supposed fine.

The sheriff's office says it doesn't conduct business like this.

"The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that warrants and capiases are never served over the phone, and no Sheriff’s Deputy would attempt to collect money in this manner," a news release stated.

Anyone who gets a call like this is asked to report it to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office at (513) 825-1500.
