Greendale Mayor Provides Update on Fiber, Announces Free Wi-Fi in Parks

Some positive changes are taking place in Greendale.

(Greendale, Ind.) – City of Greendale Mayor Alan Weiss is striving to make Greendale one of the best places to live in Indiana.

That was his message last week as Mayor Weiss shared some new developments coming to Greendale.

A recent deal with Cincinnati Bell will bring fiber broadband to all residents and businesses in Greendale. Mayor Weiss provided an update on the work, stating “the work will be completed by February 2023, if not sooner.”

The city is also seeking to place free wi-fi in all city parks including Greendale, Schnebelt, Dorman, and Oakey parks, plus a new park across from the police department. The electrical infrastructure is being upgraded as well. The aging, four KV system is being replaced by the newest state-of-the-art equipment that is expected to be more reliable.

“I think it’s a great thing for the city,” said Weiss. We’re moving forward, that’s a positive thing.”

“We want to make sure that when we improve this electric infrastructure in our city it becomes reliable. That we have the least pauses as possible in our electric because we need it.”
