Teams will plant over 100 native trees at a site in Cleves.

(Cleves, Oh.) - Great Parks of Hamilton County and volunteers will go big on national Make a Difference Day on Saturday, Oct. 22, by reforesting an area of Mitchell Memorial Forest, further building upon the agency’s role as a regional leader in conservation.

Teams will plant over 100 native trees, including oak, hickory, tulip and bass trees, in the Miller-Heilmayer site at 7667 Buffalo Ridge Rd. in Cleves.

Great Parks is a major oxygen factory for the region, having planted over 130,000 new trees in Hamilton County in the last decade. Residents can find nearly 18,000 acres of green space throughout Great Parks. As part of its commitment with the Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Program, Great Parks is reforesting approximately 5 acres at this site, using high-intensity planting methods such as this one.

Make a Difference Day, started in 1992, is a day of community service and one of the largest days of volunteerism in the world. Thousands of individuals and groups join forces to improve their communities and the lives of others.

To ensure enough supplies for all volunteers, advance registration is required at greatparks.org/volunteer. Great Parks Motor Vehicle Permits will not be required for this event.
