Lights can be dropped in six designated Great Parks locations throughout Hamilton County.

(Hamilton County, Oh.) - Great Parks and Cohen Recycling are again teaming up to help residents dispose of old, unwanted strands of holiday lights with the return of the holiday lights recycling program, from December 1, 2024, through February 1, 2025. Lights can be dropped in six designated Great Parks locations throughout Hamilton County. Cohen Recycling will then recycle the materials, diverting hazardous eWaste from landfills and preventing toxic materials from entering soil and groundwater.

Both LED and traditional string lights can be dropped in marked bins at these locations:

  • Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve – Ellenwood Nature Barn
  • Glenwood Gardens - Gatehouse
  • Miami Whitewater Forest – Visitor Center
  • Sharon Woods – Sharon Centre
  • Winton Woods – Winton Centre, front and side lobbies
  • Woodland Mound – Breezy Point Pavilion.

Only lights and their wiring should be dropped off, not bags or boxes used to carry them, or other recyclable materials.

Great Parks is a conservation leader and the largest landowner in Hamilton County, hosting programs like this which preserve and protect its more than 18,000 acres of land. Great Parks and Cohen Recycling are now entering the eleventh year of the program, which reflects an emphasis on conservation shared by both organizations. Residents have recycled more than 40 tons of holiday lights through the program since 2014
