(Aurora, Ind.) – Great Crescent Brewery has closed its doors.

The brewery’s final day of operation came on Sunday after 16 years in business.

The owners said they had a plan to keep the brewery open through the end of the year and retire, “but sometimes things don’t go as planned and the timeline gets moved.”

One of the unexpected happenings was one of the owners being diagnosed with cancer.

“We are very fortunate to be in a position that we can decide when to say we want to move on, which isn’t something afforded to every business – large and small. We could have kept the brewery open, but we decided a new project is in order,” reads a statement from the family.

The Great Crescent Brewery team plans to open a small grocery store in the brewery building along Mechanic Street. Downtown Aurora has been without a grocery store since Tandy’s left at the beginning of 2023.

The Aurora Marketplace is expected to open in early 2025.

As for the taproom space, it is up for lease. If you have restaurant ownership and/or management experience and want to explore the options in Aurora contact Dan via email – dvalas1@comcast.net.
