(Indianapolis, Ind.) – Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb is not moving forward with a plan to toll interstate highways.
Despite not moving forward, the state Budget Committee has been sent a strategic tolling plan developed by INDOT that could be considered later, reports the Associated Press.
In June, the state signed a $9.6 million contract with a company called HNTB Indiana, Inc. to study the impact of tolling.
The study showed that Indiana could collect around $15 billion for road improvements over a 20-year period.
However, Holcomb says the state is in good shape with its infrastructure spending resources, which is why the tolling plan isn’t being put in place at this time. Holcomb had been considering tolls for portions of I-94, I-65, I-90, I-70 and I-465.
