GOP Group Attacks Right To Work

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - As a vote in the Indiana House looms on making Indiana a right to work state, a group of Republicans are launching attack ads against the proposal.

Called Lunchpail Republicans, the group is going after Governor Daniels' change of position on right to work.

“I feel disappointed. I think he clearly understood the issue well in 2004 when he made the commitment,” said David Fagan, who founded the political action committee.

“This issue is polarizing the state and I think that will have a negative impact economically on this state,” Fagan said.

The GOP group is supported by the International Union of Operating Engineers.

The Indiana House will vote Tuesday on whether or not to send the issue of making the state a right to work state to voters.  House Speaker Brian Bosma has agreed to allow the House to vote today on putting it to a referendum in November.

Democrats have tried to derail the legislation, but admit they don't have the votes to block it.

Right to work would ban companies and unions from approving contracts that mandate all workers join the union in order to get a job.
