(Lawrenceburg, IN) - Girls On The Run at Central Elementary School this year is comprised of Team Pink and Team Purple.

Girls On The Run is a fun, evidence-based program that inspires participants to recognize their inner strength, increase their level of physical activity, imagine their possibilities, and confidently stand up for themselves and others.

Each team is comprised of eighteen girls from third through fifth grade. The teams meet weekly for practice and each practice focuses on the Girls On The Run mission in empowering the young students through their training and team comradery.

Each girl received a new pair of running shoes to wear throughout the season. They also chose a running buddy to help support them through the process of training, the practice 5k, and on race day.

They end the season by doing a community outreach project to support the GOTR mission.

The girls ran their practice 5k on the LHS track last week. This Friday they will have their Annual Spaghetti Dinner to celebrate the successful season.

The Girls On The Run 5k race is Saturday May 11, starting at Paycor Stadium.
