(Friendship, Ind.) – The Friendship Volunteer Fire Department has acquired a life-saving device thanks to the help of a local bank.

Through support from the Friendship State Bank, the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department was able to purchase a new Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).

The new device replaces the old device on their First Responder / Rescue Unit 72.

An AED is used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. The east-to-use, medical device can analyze the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm.

The project to acquire a new AED has taken over a year to complete due to supply chain issues.
