Former Addyston Police Chief Enters Guilty Plea

Dorian LaCourse was indicted on charges in 2021 for his role in an illegal machine gun sales scheme.

(Addyston, Oh.) – Former Addyston Police Chief Dorian LaCourse has entered a guilty plea for his role in an illegal machine gun sale scheme.

LaCourse entered the guilty plea in U.S. District Court Southern District of Indiana on February 25.

According to court documents, LaCourse pleaded guilty to conspiracy, making false statements in records maintained by a federal firearms licensee, and making false statements to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

In exchange for the guilty plea, all other charges will be dropped.

LaCourse resigned as Addyston Police Chief on March 1, 2020, after he was suspended without pay for several alleged violations including buying and selling weapons without Village Council consent.

The actions allegedly took place in or before October 2015 and continued through or around May 2019, and involved 200 or more firearms – of which LaCourse received a portion of the profits

The government has agreed to recommend a sentence of 70 months in jail, followed by two years of supervised release. The matter of any fine will be left to the discretion of the court.

LaCourse offered the following statement as part of the plea agreement:

“I make no claim of innocence, and I am freely and voluntarily pleading guilty in this case. I am pleading guilty as set forth in this Plea Agreement because I am guilty of the crimes to which I am entering my plea.”
