(Wilmington, Oh.) – High winds, rain, and snow are in the forecast leading into Christmas Day.

Today’s forecast calls for an unseasonably warm high temperature of 56 degrees, but increasingly high winds are expected throughout the day.

The National Weather Service says sustained wind will hover around 15 to 25 mph with gusts upwards of 35 to 40 mph.

Temperatures are expected to drop drastically over the next 48 to 72 hours. Wednesday's low is 30 degrees with a 100 percent chance for rain.

Rain is expected to change to snow early Thursday morning with up to an inch of snow expected by Thursday night. Temperatures are also expected to fall into the teens by Thursday night, making way for a high of 23 degrees and a chance for flurries on Christmas Day.

According to the National Weather Service’s Hazardous Weather Outlook, slick spots will develop on roadways and sidewalks due to snow accumulation and refreezing beginning Thursday.
