Florence Mayor Announces Cancellation Of Upcoming Events

The annual Florence Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony has been cancelled and the Florence Aquatic Center will not open for the 2020 season.

(Florence, Ky.) - While community members are dreaming of the day of normalcy, local leaders continue to cancel events and place restrictions to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.

Florence Mayor Diane E. Whalen announced that the annual Florence Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony has been cancelled and the Florence Aquatic Center will not open for the 2020 season.

Mayor Whalen says that even with Kentucky's benchmarks for lifting restrictions, it is clear that social distancing guidelines will continue to impact large gatherings.

"It would be extremely difficult to observe such protocols in a large, public pool facility, and the safety of our city’s residents and visitors comes first," says Mayor Whalen.
