UPDATE: US 50 Reopens After Fatal Pedestrian Strike

UPDATE: U.S. 50 has reopened in Aurora following a deadly accident early Monday morning.

Update published at 6:52 a.m.:

Aurora Police advise that U.S. 50-Green Boulevard has reopened in both directions at the scene of a fatal accident Monday morning.

A pedestrian was reportedly struck and killed in the area of Sycamore Estates Drive prior to 4:00 a.m. The accident caused U.S. 50 to be closed.

The highway reopened at around 6:50 a.m., police say. 

No further details have been released. Indiana State Police are leading on the crash investigation.

(Aurora, Ind.) - A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle along U.S. 50-Green Boulevard in Aurora early Monday morning, September 23.

The accident happened in the area of Sycamore Estates Drive in Aurora prior to 4:00 a.m.

U.S. 50 has been shut down in both directions as the investigation is ongoing. 

There is no estimate on when the highway may reopen. Motorists are being redirected on Sycamore Estates Drive to Florence Drive, but that detour is also experiencing major delays.
