Five Area Veterans to be Honored at Lawrenceburg Fall Fest

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Five area Veterans will be honored at Lawrenceburg Fall Fest this weekend.

The annual Veterans Recognition and Awards ceremony is scheduled for Saturday at 6:15 p.m. on the Civic Park stage. The National Anthem and Mayor’s Welcome will take place prior, starting at 6:00.

This year’s honorees are Kenneth Raymond Booker (posthumously), James Key Jr (posthumously), Dennis Sterling (posthumously), Jerry Garbett, and Jerry McLaughlin (posthumously).

Booker served with the Army’s 82nd Airborne during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was tragically killed in action at Diyala, Iraq in 2007.
Key served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam with CO. B, 1/29th Infantry, and 197th Light Infantry Brigade.
Sterling also served in Vietnam as a U.S. Marine with the 200th Combat Action Group Marine Amphibious Force III near Da Nang.
Garbett served in the U.S. Army with the 1st Air Calvary at Saigon and the An Loa Valley, South Vietnam.
McLaughlin served in Vietnam as a U.S. Marine with Company A, Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marines.

All five are Purple Heart recipients.
