Five Area Veterans to be Honored at Lawrenceburg Fall Fest

Four of the five honorees will be recognized posthumously.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Five area Veterans will be honored at Lawrenceburg Fall Fest this weekend.

The annual Veterans Recognition and Awards ceremony is scheduled for Saturday at 6:15 p.m. on the Civic Park stage. The National Anthem and Mayor’s Welcome will take place prior, starting at 6:00.

This year’s honorees are Kenneth Raymond Booker (posthumously), James Key Jr (posthumously), Dennis Sterling (posthumously), Jerry Garbett, and Jerry McLaughlin (posthumously).

  • Booker served with the Army’s 82nd Airborne during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was tragically killed in action at Diyala, Iraq in 2007.
  • Key served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam with CO. B, 1/29th Infantry, and 197th Light Infantry Brigade.
  • Sterling also served in Vietnam as a U.S. Marine with the 200th Combat Action Group Marine Amphibious Force III near Da Nang.
  • Garbett served in the U.S. Army with the 1st Air Calvary at Saigon and the An Loa Valley, South Vietnam.
  • McLaughlin served in Vietnam as a U.S. Marine with Company A, Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marines.

All five are Purple Heart recipients.
