(Boone County, Ky.) - Rolling roadblocks will be in effect on Interstate 71 in Boone County on Thursday, February 27.

Traffic will be temporarily slowed down and, at times, stopped to allow crews space to patch potholes on Interstate 71 southbound between the I-71/75 split (mile point 77) and the Boone/Gallatin County line (mile point 69.91).

This project will improve safety on the seven mile stretch of interstates.

Once that work has been completed, crews will shift the bulk of the work to I-71 northbound from the Boone/Gallatin County line to the I-71/75 split. Crews will also perform pothole patching on the exit interchange on/off ramps at the Verona exit (Exit 72) and the I-71/75 split.

KYTC Boone County maintenance crew will be making these repairs between the working hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. This work is being performed overnight to mitigate traffic disruptions.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, and to find an alternate route during these hours to avoid delays. Motorists should adhere to posted signage, and not pass crews blocking ramps during the rolling roadblock. Crews temporarily block the highway to provide a safe area for our crews to work. Please, drive safely to keep our work zones and workers safe.

Weather permitting, this pothole patching project should be completed by Friday, February 28 at 6:00 a.m.
