Early Voting Begins In Indiana

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Monday is the last day Hoosiers can register to vote in the May 8 primary election, but it’s also the first day voters can cast a ballot.

Most counties across the state allow voters to cast an early absentee ballot.

Dearborn County Clerk of Courts Phil Weaver said voters in his county can cast an absentee ballot at the Lawrenceburg Public Library, 150 Mary Street, through Monday, May 7.

Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and closed for lunch from 11:30 to 12:30.  There will also be Saturday hours on April 28 and May 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the library. Early voting ends May 7 at noon.

Voters who would like to vote absentee by mail must turn in an application to the Clerk’s office by close of business on Monday, April 30.

Travel Board applications will be accepted until Saturday, May 5, at 5:00 p.m.

Weaver said Dearborn County voters with questions can call the County Clerk Election phone number, (812) 537-1877.

The Ripley County Clerk’s Office will open early voting that day Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m.

Ripley County voters with questions about voter registration or absentee voting can contact the clerk's office at (812) 689-4783.
