Volunteers Needed For Litter Clean-Up Project In Logan

The annual clean-up project takes place Saturday, March 14.

(Logan, Ind.) – Volunteers are needed for an annual litter clean-up project in the Logan area.

The project led by the Volpenhein family and friends takes place the second Saturday in March (14th) on Whites Hill Road.

Volunteers and side-by-side vehicles are needed to assist with the clean-up efforts. Anyone interested in participating is asked to meet at 8:00 a.m. at Logan Supermart on North Dearborn Road, and should bring heavy-duty trash bags, trash pickers and gloves and to wear high-visibility clothing.

“Our plan is to start at the bottom of Whites Hill and work our way up,” said Adam Volpenhein. “We will try to hit some side roads as well as North Dearborn Road. We are usually finished by noon.”

Dearborn County Commissioners have approved the closure of Whites Hill Road from Gaynor Ridge Road to State Road 46 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The Harrison Hill portion of North Dearborn Road will close from Bell Arbor to Pinhook from 10:30 to noon.

For question or more information, call Adam Volphenhein at 513-383-2018, or visit the Dearborn County Anti-Litter Initiative Facebook page.

Celeste Calvitto, founder and chair of the Dearborn County Anti-Litter Initiative, says future cleanups are being planned. They include Stateline Road on April 4 and York Ridge Road Hill on May 9. Clean-up projects are also being scheduled for County Farm Road and Georgetown Road.
