(Ripley County, Ind.) – Jury selection is set to begin in Ripley County for a teenager accused of murdering his siblings.

Nickalas Kedrowitz was 13 years old when he was charged with two counts of murder for allegedly killing his 23-month-old sister Desiree McCartney in May of 2017.

He was removed from the family’s home by Indiana Department of Child Services and was later placed back into the home. The following July, Kedrowitz allegedly smothered his 11-month-old brother Nathaniel Ritz.

His case has since been waived to adult court.

Jury selection is expected to last three days, followed by the State’s presentation of evidence set to begin on Monday, August 16 in Ripley Circuit Court.

If convicted, Kedrowitz faces an advisory sentence of 55 years on each murder count. He is not eligible for the death penalty due to his age.
