(Dillsboro, Ind.) – The ribbon has officially been cut for the new Creator Space at the Dillsboro Arts Friendship Gallery.
Last Friday, friends and family of Dillsboro gathered to celebrate the culmination of months of brainstorming, planning, designing, and renovating.
The Creator Space concept assumes that everyone has something to share and something to learn as all concepts for use of the space are welcomed.
In April 2023, the Indiana Arts Commission and Ball State University’s Indiana Communities Institute hosted a pilot program for Arts and Community Development. The program consisted of a two-day workshop where each of the five selected communities developed a project which was seeded by the hosting organizations.
Dillsboro focused on space where artists, writers, musicians, and local organizations could share talents, knowledge, memories, and culture.
Current and future programming for the space includes Creator Space Tuesdays.
1st Tuesdays
- Music Circle - Bring a song, bring an instrument.
2nd Tuesdays
- Writer’s Group – Share writing ideas and talk with other writers.
3rd Tuesdays
- Drawing Studio – A group of artists of all skill levels gathering to draw, share, and learn together.
4th Tuesdays
- Five Minutes at the Mic – A time for you to tell a story, share a favorite poem or song, talk about history or other favorite topics, ask a question, explain your favorite artwork and more.
