(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A Bright couple has been charged after allegedly causing damage to their baby.

According to the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department, Kaitlin and Tyler Hussung allegedly shook their eight-week old baby hard enough to cause vision impairment and created a substantial risk of death.

Doctors at Children’s Hospital gave the diagnosis on October 12th, stating that they could not find an medical explanation for the child’s brain bleeding other than trauma, caused by abuse.

Detectives say the injuries were sustained during a time period in which their son was being cared for by one or both of his parents.

Through the course of their investigation, Detectives discovered that Kaitlin had communicated with her mother on October 11th while she was babysitting their son. Kaitlin told her mother that she was “overwhelmed” due to their son projectile vomiting, and that she was upset and crying over the situation and about to pull her hair out because she was frustrated with her son.

The Hussung’s are charged with two counts of Aggravated Battery (Level 3 felony) and one count of Neglect of a Dependent with Serious Bodily Injury (Level 3 felony).
