Deputies: Biker Was Wearing Helmet When She Crashed

A motorcycle rider escaped serious injury despite wrecking on State Road 229 in Franklin County.

(Franklin County, Ind.) – Wearing a helmet may have helped to save the life of a motorcycle rider who crashed on State Road 229 in Franklin County on Saturday, July 27.

Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies say Paige A. Hepler, 27, of Spencerville, Indiana, was driving a 1984 Honda CB 650 heading southbound on S.R. 229 near Stacy Road when she failed to negotiate a curve. Hepler lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to lay on its side. The bike crossed the opposite lane into a ditch, where Hepler was thrown from the motorcycle.

Hepler was transported by Batesville EMS to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. Deputies said her injuries were minor as she was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Eagle Fire Company of Oldenburg assisted at the crash scene.
