(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - According to the Dearborn County Sheriff's Office, residents have been receiving phone calls from a Lawrenceburg, IN number.

The scammers claim that you have been absent from a federal grand jury hearing in Dearborn County and wanted to know if you had a good reason for not being present.

The scammers then claim there is a warrant for your arrest and try to get money from you.

The Dearborn County Sheriff's Office would like to remind residents this is not how they conduct business and would never ask you to pay money over the phone.
