Dearborn Co. Emergency Management Preparing for Winter Storm

(Dearborn County, Ind.) - A strong winter storm is predicted to impact Dearborn County along with most of the State of Indiana between Wednesday February 2, through Friday February 4. Currently Dearborn County is predicted to get rain, heavy ice accumulations, and three to four inches of snow. This will also include temperatures near zero with wind chills below zero.

These conditions will make travel close to impossible. We are encouraging everyone to make preparations now to stay off the roads. This will keep you safe, allow for emergency responders to respond to emergencies besides accidents, and allow our highway crews to treat roadways. Do not call 911 to inquire about road conditions. We will be issuing travels status changes as this event progresses. For the most current travel status please refer to this website https://www.in.gov/dhs/traveladvisory/.

Damage from ice and snow buildup can occur to powerlines causing power outages. With the travel conditions expected outages may take longer to fix. Please have electronic devices charged and preserve the battery as much as possible. Do not use heaters that use kerosene, diesel, etc for heating purposes inside unless vented properly. These heaters produce carbon monoxide which is colorless, odorless, and can be deadly.
