Dearborn Co. Clearinghouse Receives Three Grants from Area Organizations

The funds will be used to support various programs at the Clearinghouse.

(Aurora, Ind.) – The Dearborn County Clearinghouse has received generous grants from three local organizations.

Southeastern Indiana REMC granted the organization $2,500 towards the purchase of a coating to go on the flooring of one of the Mobile Pantry Vans. The grant was made possible through REMC’s Operation Roundup and will make distribution safer for volunteers.

Another $2,000 was granted to the Clearinghouse from the Duke Energy Foundation. The funds will help support the purchase of food for the Sacks of Snacks program that assists children with food insecurities.

The third grant comes from the Dearborn Community Foundation (Heart of Gold). Five-hundred dollars will be used for the purchase of general needs at the Clearinghouse.

The Dearborn County Clearinghouse food pantry serves over 2,400 individuals in Dearborn and Ohio counties. The service includes groceries one time a month and lunches every day the Clearinghouse is open.

Other services include Sack of Snacks for area school children, kits for area homeless, and senior boxes for those over 60 with food insecurities.
