(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF), Inc. recently awarded a $1,000 Proactive Grant to Aurora Public Library District.
In its 25th year of helping donors make a difference, DCF is awarding 15 proactive grants of $1,000 each throughout 2023 to charitable organizations that serve Dearborn County residents. Each of the Foundation’s 15 volunteer Board members is recommending a grant. The money comes from the Foundation’s Unrestricted Endowment Funds, established by donors to provide flexibility to address changing needs in the community over the years.
DCF Board member Lisa Moorhead, a longtime educator, said she recommended the grant because “reading is key to success in learning as I’ve seen throughout my career as an educator.” Moorhead, who is currently Vice Chancellor-Enrollment & Student Services at Ivy Tech Community College, Lawrenceburg/Batesville, says Aurora Public Library District continues to be an important partner with our local schools and communities.
“They work with our entire population, from offering youth story times and other fun, educational activities to helping our senior adults with technology through Computer 101 class,” said Moorhead. “The resources that are available by having a library card are many, now including streaming films and other learning materials, ebooks, and the list goes on.”
