(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - At only 10-years-old, Logan Lawrence of Lawrenceburg lost his grandfather, Carlos Lawrence, to ALS.

According to the ALS Association over 5,600 people are diagnosed with this disease that still doesn’t have a cure.

Two years ago, Lawrence decided that he wanted to raise money to help with research in finding a cure. He started the Cruisin’ for a Cure for ALS Car Show.

“I never want to witness someone suffer as much as my grandpa did just like any other person diagnosed with ALS does,” he said.

The first show there were 425 registered cars and an estimated 3,000 spectators that event alone raised $15,000 for the ALS Association Indiana Chapter. The second show had 650 registered cars and raised $23,000 for the ALS Association Indiana Chapter.

May 5, 2019 will mark the third annual Cruisin’ for a Cure Car Show. With the support of the City of Lawrenceburg, the event will be held downtown on Walnut and High streets.

All vehicles will be welcomed whether it is classic cars, custom vehicles, imports, racecars, trucks, or vehicles of interest (boats, golf carts, razors, etc.) Participants may register your car the day of the show from 9:00 a.m. to noon, or register early by April 15th for reserved parking closer to the stage and to be entered for a $500 cash drawing.

There will also be a $500 best in show prize along with 90 trophies and plaques for the contestants. The event will also have a live auction, vending, and live performances by local groups. There will also be fun for the kids with the ‘touch a truck’ where kids will be able to sit in emergency vehicles.

Lawrence, a graduate of Lawrenceburg High School, is now an engineering student at Purdue University.
