Cpl. Kelsee Lainhart Recognized On House Floor By Congressman Greg Pence

Kelsee was also moved to a PT facility in Chicago on Tuesday.

(WASHINGTON) - Congressman Greg Pence (IN-06) gave special recognition to U.S. Marine Cpl. Kelsee Lainhart on the House floor this week.

"I rise today to recognize U.S. Marine Cpl. Kelsee Lainhart on her road to recovery for being wounded in Afghanistan," said Pence.

The Dearborn County native continues to make strides in her recovery after being wounded in the August 26 suicide bombing at Kabul Airport.

"Simply put, Kelsee Lainhart is a hero," added Pence. "We will never forget Cpl. Lainhart's acts of bravery that day in Afghanistan or her courageous fellow service members we lost."

Lainhart was moved to Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Chicago on Tuesday, where she will resume physical therapy. She is currently doing about an hour of PT daily.

Kelsee's progress is being tracked on the Caring Bridge website.

On September 20, Kelsee herself entered a journal post thanking everyone for the outpouring of support. An excerpt from the post is below:

"This post is honestly long overdue but I’m finally getting around to it. First and foremost, thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone that has reached out with kind words over social media, sent cards, packages, flowers, and everything in between that I could possibly need. Thank you to everyone that has visited me (I’ve had some pretty badass visitors) I really appreciate all of you. I am blown away by the support that I have received not only from my community back home, but all across the country. The amount of people that genuinely care about what happened and have shown love and support to me and the other marines that were injured as well as to the families of those who passed really warms my heart and I couldn’t be more grateful for all of you."

Card and letters may be sent to Kelsee at the following address:
