Community Blood Drive Feb. 5 in Napoleon

You must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent) to donate.

(Napoleon, Ind.) - A community blood drive will be held on Monday, February 5 in Napoleon. 

The event will take place at St. Maurice Church Hall and will be split into two sessions from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. and from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.

Appointments may be scheduled online at www.hoxworth.org/groups/napoleon

Each day, Hoxworth Blood Center needs to collect at least 450 units of blood and  40 units of apheresis platelets to meet the needs of patients in the Tri-State area. Once testing and processing is complete, the units are dispersed to over 30 area hospitals served by Hoxworth, where they are transfused to patients with a variety of medical needs. 

To donate, you must meet all of the following criteria: 

  • Be at least 17 years old (16-year-olds may donate with parental consent*).
    1. Females under the age of 18 may donate once in a 12-month period.
    2. Males under the age of 18 may donate twice in a 12-month period.
  • Weigh at least 110 lbs. (body weight) --*16 - 18 year olds please see weight requirement chart in the High School brochure. 
  • Generally feel well and healthy.
  • Have no fever, sore throat or flu-like symptom.
  • Have no active cold symptoms.
  • Have not had major surgery recently (released from doctor's care).
