City Of Lawrenceburg Names New LMU Director

A vote was made at the Utility Board Meeting on Monday evening.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – The City of Lawrenceburg has hired a new LMU director.

A motion to approve the hiring of William Kinnett was unanimous at Monday evening's Utility Board Meeting.

Mayor Kelly Mollaun stated that the hiring process started with 46 applicants, which was narrowed down to 11, then eight, then four, then three candidates.

“We had a lot of very capable applicants,” said Mollaun. “Once we got down to the final three, the USB then did their own interview with each one of them. It was a good process. We did all the background checks and everything has been done, and I think Mr. Kinnett going to fulfill what we need.”

LMU director is a contract position. Kinnett will officially take over the position on September 1 with his contract running through December 31, 2021. His contract will be up for renewal annually.

Kinnett replaces Olin Clawson, who was voted out of the position in January amid allegations of unapproved LMU spending.

In other news, two motions were carried to replace water meters and to field test electric meters in the LMU customer area.

"Our water meters are in excess of 16 years old," said Mollaun.

The lifespan of those meters is usually around 10 years.

Mollaun asked the Utility Board to replace as many water meters as possible for a cost of $300,000. If and when that number is exceeding, additional funding will need to be requested as the project will be funded by LMU.

As for the electric meters, any bad ones will need to be replaced. Field tests could start in mid-September.
