Brooklyn Strong Fundraiser Set for October 22

The event will support Brooklyn Konerman, who was born in 2003 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.

(St. Leon, Ind.) – An East Central High School graduate needs your support after life-saving interventions.

Brooklyn Konerman was born in 2003 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS).

The condition required Konerman to have three open-heart surgeries by the time she was five years old in order to reconstruct her heart. The surgeries allowed Konerman to grow and live as a normal child even though she had decreased heart function.

In 2015, she passed out at school and had to get a pacemaker to help her heart. Since then, she received a new heart in April 2019 and was excelling at living a normal teenage life until July 20 when she experienced multiple organ failures.

Konerman will require a new heart and liver to survive.

A “Brooklyn Strong” Fundraiser will take place on Saturday, October 22 at the St. Joseph American Legion Post 464 in St. Leon.

The event will run from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and will include a DJ, basket raffles, and Split the Pot.

Spaghetti dinner, cheese coneys, soft drinks and beer will be available for purchase.
