Brief Tornado Touched Down in Open Field in Southern Indiana, NWS Says

There wasn't enough damage to evaluate the intensity.

(Seymour, Ind.) - A brief tornado touched down in Jackson County on Wednesday morning just South of Seymour near New Farmington 

The National Weather Service Indianapolis said a video helped confirm a brief tornado in the area.

A preliminary damage survey result showed the tornado touched down at 10:31 a.m. and had a path length of 0.17 miles with a width of 10 yards.

The NWS said the tornado touched down in an open field and dissipated after less than a minute.

There were no injuries or deaths reported. 

The tornado is defined as EF-U because there wasn't enough damage to evaluate the intensity.

A brief tornado touched down 4 miles south of Seymour and dissipated after less than a minute. The path length was about 0.17 miles and the max width was about 10 yards.
