(Aurora, Ind.) – A deck overlay and rehabilitation project starts this week in Dearborn County.

The Indiana Department of Transportation says lane closures will begin on or after Friday, April 30 on the U.S. 50 bridge over Hogan Creek in Aurora.

Motorists should expect traffic disruptions throughout the day Friday for signal adjustments near the bridge.

All other work will take place in four phases under various traffic restrictions.

  • Phase 1 (beginning on or after Friday, April 30): Removal of center concrete curb, weekend lane closures from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday
  • Phase 2 and 3 (beginning early May): Deck overlay and rehabilitation work, lane closures for up to 9 days per phase
  • Phase 4 (beginning late May): Replace center concrete curb, weekend lane closures from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday

During each phase, travel lanes will be reduced to 11 feet in width. Motorists are reminded to slow down, use extra caution, and drive distraction-free while traveling through the work zone.

The $1.3 million dollar project is expected to be complete in late May or early June.
