Bookout, Hatter Attend "We the Hoosiers" Debate

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Two candidates for the 6th Congressional District in Indiana were campaigning in Lawrenceburg Thursday.

Local tea party group We the Hoosiers organized the debate between Democrat Brad Bookout and Republican John Hatter. It was held at the Lawrenceburg Fire House on Tate Street.

Bookout and Hatter debated energy, federal spending, and unemployment.

Hatter faces a crowded Republican field in the May primary against eight other candidates – financial advisor Don Bates, former state senator Bill Frazier, former state representative Luke Messer, retired educator Andrew Phipps, Columbus developer Travis Hankins, Kristen Foster, Allen Smith, and small business employee T.J. Thompson.

Booker is a former Delaware County Councilman. He is an assistant director at the Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance. His competition on the May ballot includes Wayne County entrepreneur Dan Bolling, Hanover College professor Jim Crone, and pastor Barry Welsh.

The Indiana Sixth District Congressional seat is currently held by Republican Mike Pence, who announced last year he will run for Indiana governor.
