(Ripley County, Ind.) - This year, the Ripley County Community Foundation awarded a brand-new scholarship, the Integrity Machine Tool Technology Scholarship, to Elias Spurlock. This scholarship was established in 2019 by Integrity Tool to support local students planning to pursue a degree in machine technology trades. Not only is this the first year this scholarship has been given out, but it is the first scholarship awarded by the Ripley County Community Foundation that supports career technology trades. Tim Schrank, representative of Integrity Tool, states, “Regardless of the future economy or next generation, we believe the future is what you make of it. We are honored and proud to support those pursuing their dreams in the machine tool trade by providing this scholarship.”

The winner of the scholarship, Elias Spurlock, is a Batesville High School graduate and will be attending Ivy Tech Community College next year. He is enrolled in the Machine Tool Technology Program and will be pursuing a degree in Machining and Tool Making. Elias stated in his application that he wants to go into machining because “working with my hands gives me a sense of accomplishment; with each job I get to cultivate my skills and knowledge.” In high school, Elias participated in Batesville High School’s co-op program, Robotics Club, and has been part of Young Life for the last three years. Elias has displayed incredible work ethic through his jobs and dedication towards his career goals.
