Batesville Police, School Corp. Enforce Bus Safety

Always call 911 if you see any road safety violations.

(Batesville, Ind.) – The Batesville Police Department and Batesville Community School Corporation are teaming up to keep bus safety a priority in their community.

The police and school are following up with drivers who disregard school buses with the arm signal device extended, which violates Indiana Code 9-21-12-1 and is a Class A infraction and could even be a Class A misdemeanor under Indiana Code 9-21-8-52.

Motorists are reminded that vehicles traveling from either direction must stop for a school bus with the arm signal extended when there is no physical barrier or median. This will ensure that children are safe when they are on or near the roadway.

Remember to always call 911, if you can do so safely, when you witness a violation. 911 dispatch asks that you try to obtain as much information as possible, such as the license plate number, vehicle and driver description, and location.

Any information that you will be able to help with is helpful.
