(Batesville, Ind.) - The Batesville Community School Corporation (BCSC) proudly celebrates a transformational academic and financial achievement for the Batesville High School (BHS) Class of 2025. Thanks to BHS’s robust partnership with Ivy Tech Community College, every graduating senior earned college credit—resulting in nearly $5.5 million in total savings for students and families.

This year:

  • 40 students earned an Associate’s Degree (60 credit hours)

  • 63 students completed the Indiana College Core (30 credit hours)

  • 74 students earned Technical Certificates (15 credit hours)

  • 177 total college credentials were awarded

  • 100% of the Class of 2025 earned dual credit

Using Indiana’s average tuition rate of $350 per credit hour, the Class of 2025 alone saved over $1.8 million in tuition. When including additional cost-of-attendance expenses—tuition, housing, meals, books, and personal expenses (based on Indiana University Bloomington's published resident rate of $30,600 per year: IU Cost of Attendance)—the total savings in avoided college costs reaches nearly $5.5 million.

And the most remarkable part: this opportunity comes at zero cost to families. All dual credit courses are fully funded by BCSC.

“Through our partnership with Ivy Tech, we’re delivering real value for students and families—removing financial barriers and accelerating student success,” said BCSC Superintendent Paul Ketcham. “It’s a shining example of what happens when we invest our finite dollars in opportunity.”

According to Ivy Tech, their dual credit courses align with both career and college pathways, giving students a head start no matter their destination. This model of student-focused innovation is one of the many reasons Batesville High School is ranked among the Top 20 high schools in Indiana by Niche.com (View the ranking).

This initiative is a foundational pillar of BCSC’s Bulldog Ready mission: to ensure every student graduates with the knowledge, skills, attributes, and experiences necessary for success beyond high school.
