(Crestview Hills, Ky.) - Police may have identified the man who allegedly abducted a woman in northern Kentucky, then released her in Cleves last year.
Joseph Weir, 39, of Covington, is behind bars for a bank robbery he allegedly committed in Covington on December 5.
Investigators say Weir, while in custody, confessed to taking 74-year-old Ann Ernst at gunpoint from the Crestview Hills Town Center on May 31, 2011.
Ernst was left tied to a tree in Cleves as her car and purse were taken. She told police the man who took her had buck teeth and wore a brimmed army-style hat.
Weir is being held on a $50,000 bond in the Kenton County Jail related to the bank robbery charge. Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney’s are working on charges relating to the alleged abduction.
