Ball State University Trustees Approve Tuition Rate Increase

Tuition will increase 1.25 percent each of the next two school years.

(Muncie, Ind.) - Ball State University is raising tuition over the next two years.

The Board of Trustees met Wednesday and approved a 1.25 percent increase for next year.  There will then be another 1.25 percent increase for the 2020-2021 school year.

The increase falls below the 1.65 percent tuition rate recommended by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education.

The school is also adding a fee for those who take online classes to the tune of $25 per class per credit hour.

“Our ability to keep tuition rate increases at 2% or less since 2013 is no accident,” said BSU Board Chair Rick Hall. “We have been entrusted with the stewardship of public funds and Indiana families’ investments, and we take that responsibility to heart. Our prudent fiscal management has enabled us to keep tuition increases low and provide our students with high quality, affordable education.”

The university says that even with the tuition increase, it will still have the lowest tuition of any school in the Mid-American Conference.
