(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – An Aurora man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly resisted law enforcement and attempted to disarm a police officer.

Lance Davidson was taken into custody last Sunday and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine (Enhanced, Level 3 Felony), Disarming a Law Enforcement Officer (Level 5 Felony), Battery on a Public Safety Official (Level 5 Felony), and Resisting Law Enforcement (Level 6 Felony).

A Lawrenceburg Police officer was traveling on State Road 48 and was unable to read the plate on a black Cadillac sedan, driven by Davidson.

After following Davidson into Ludlow Hill Park, the license plate came back to a different vehicle than the one it was on. At that time, a traffic stop was initiated. During the stop, Davidson explained to the officer he was “on his way to go fishing.”

According to a news release, Davidson was unable to provide insurance and was asked to exit the vehicle, which he refused. Additional officers arrived at the scene to assist. While trying to remove Davidson from his vehicle, he allegedly became “extremely” combative and swung at the officers before unsuccessfully reaching for one of the officer’s gun.

He was eventually subdued and taken to the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.

The officers involved received small lacerations and scratches from the altercation.

During a search of Davidson’s vehicle, officers allegedly located 22 grams of methamphetamine, paraphernalia, and a small amount of marijuana.

Davidson is held on $250,000 surety and $25,000 cash bond.
