AUDIO: Lauren's Burg Hill 5K This Saturday; Online Registration Ends Tomorrow

Register online or pay more on race day.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – There is still time to get registered for the 7th annual Lauren’s Burg Hill 5K.

The 5K run and walk and five-mile race takes place on Saturday, June 19 in downtown Lawrenceburg.

Event organizer Mark Knigga stopped by the Eagle's Nest on Monday to provide an update on the course route and the final opportunity to register online for the event.

Knigga started by saying construction issues on Old State Road 48 will cause the course to be reworked this year. The race will start on Walnut Street near Lawrenceburg City Hall and will travel out onto U.S. 50, but Old State Road 48 will not be used this year.

“There will be a hill,” said Knigga. “We are going to go up new 48 to the top of the hill in that area and come back down the hill and finish on the famous 22-yard line of the football field.”

Online registration is $30 if you register by the end of the day Tuesday. Registration increases to $40 on race day.

To date, the race has raised over $79,000 for Lauren’s Fight For Cure Foundation. Knigga says the event would have surpassed $100,000 in fundraising this year if not for COVID-19.

“I can’t thank the people enough,” Knigga added. “The community, our sponsors, the City of Greendale, the City of Lawrenceburg, Rohe. Without those three major people and companies, we wouldn’t be able to do this. They bend over backwards. That in addition to the participants.”

The online registration link can be found here.

Race day registration will be available on Saturday near the start line by Lawrenceburg City Hall. The start of the race is scheduled for 7:22 a.m.

All proceeds benefit Lauren’s Fight For Cure Foundation to assist families with children battling pediatric brain cancer.
