(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A band with local ties has announced a name change and the release of new album.

They used to be The Skallywags. Now, they are known as Kristine Kabbes and The Skallywags.

Kristine, an Aurora native, and her band stopped by Eagle Country 99.3 on Monday to promote her new single, “Can’t Stop Drinkin’ Today” on the upcoming album “Unbecoming” and explain the name change.

“We have a new album coming out, and we decided we are going to change our name to just me,” said Kabbes. “My band is still The Skallywags, we’ll always be The Skallywags. We just changed it up. New music, new name.”

“Can’t Stop Drinkin’ Today” will officially be released on Friday, but the song will debut on Eagle Country 99.3 on Tuesday at 4:50 p.m. as the It’s Almost 5 O’clock Somewhere Song of the Day.

Kristine Kabbes and The Skallywags are scheduled to play at Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg on Friday, July 9.
