(Whitewater Township, Oh.) – An arrest has been made after a billboard was vandalized in Hamilton County.
The incident was reported on June 24 at the intersection of Lawrenceburg Road and Sand Run roads in Whitewater Township.
According to Hamilton County Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey, the subject produced a .44 rifle and fired a series of rounds at a billboard, in the direction of nearby Interstate 275, that held a sign that said, “STOP THE STINK”.
The subject was later identified as Gregory Brooks, of Whitewater Township.
The 58-year-old was interviewed at Sheriff’s Patrol Headquarters, where he allegedly admitted to shooting the sign.
The rounds he fired did strike the sign, according to the sheriff’s office, piercing the conduit and sparking an electrical fire that caused approximately $2,000 in damage to the sign.
Brooks is charged with one count of Improper Discharge of a Firearm (Felony 4th Degree), and one county of Vandalism (Felony 5th Degree).
