Area Archery Teams Compete at Eastern Nationals

Several schools scored high enough to qualify for the NASP Championship in June.

LOUISVILLE - The 2024 NASP Eastern Nationals was held May 9-11 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville.

Several area schools competed at the event, which included high school, middle school, and elementary school divisions.

To qualify for the NASP Championship in Dayton Beach, Florida on June 6-8, teams had to reach the following scores:

• Elementary team score >= 2,550
• Middle School team score >= 3,050
• High School team score >= 3,150

High School Division (teams in bold qualified for the NASP Championship)

Batesville high School: 16 out of 252

• Score: 3392, Tens: 194

Ryle High School: 36 out of 252

• Score: 3339, Tens: 182

Madison High School: 47 out of 252

• Score: 3322, Tens: 166

Cooper High School: 123 out of 252

• Score: 3250, Tens: 143

Franklin County High School: 131 out of 252

• Score: 3244, Tens: 125

Milan High School: 152 out of 252

• Score: 3216, Tens: 123

Conner High School: 158 out of 252

• Score: 3213, Tens: 129

Dixie Heights: 233 out of 252

• Score: 3094, Tens: 107

South Dearborn: 235 out of 252

• Score: 3093, Tens: 105

Among area schools, Batesville’s Lydia Haskamp had the top score (293), placing 10th among 2,498 high school girls, 2nd out of 584 junior girls, and 11th out of 6,920 girls regardless of division.

Quinten Sarringhaus, of Batesville, scored a 291, which was good for 52nd out of 2,513 high school boys. He ranked 8th among sophomore boys.

In the middle school division, Batesville Middle School placed 14th out of 267 teams, qualifying for the NASP Championship. 

Camp Ernst Middle School finished 111th, Conner Middle School was 129th, Madison Junior High placed 135th, Hebron Middle School was 160th, and South Ripley Junior High placed 188th. Each scored high enough to qualify for the NASP Championship. South Dearborn Middle School was 222nd.

Batesville’s Grace Magee was the top performing middle school athlete from the area with a score of 287.

In the elementary division, Batesville Intermediate School qualified for the NASP Championship by placing 22nd out of 199 teams. Their top performer was Bruce Li with a score of 178.
