April Is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Enjoy a night of family fun and advocacy for Hoosier children this Thursday in Versailles.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Join the Indiana Department of Child Services, Prevent Child Abuse Indiana and the Kids First Trust Fund in recognizing the role of the community in protecting Indiana’s most vulnerable youth. The carnival-themed event features games and information in recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.                            

WHEN: Thursday, April 25, 2019 
 
WHERE: Tyson Activity Center: 100 N. High St. Versailles, IN 47042 
 
TIME: 5-7 p.m.  
 
Enjoy a night of family fun and advocacy for Hoosier children. Activities include ring toss, tin can knock down, a duck pond and more. Guest speakers will talk about their experience in the child welfare system and educate attendees about how the community can assist in the prevention of child abuse and neglect.    

How can you help prevent abuse and neglect? 

 If you suspect abuse or neglect, please call the Indiana Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline at 1-800-800-5556.  

 Reach out to parents that you know and offer a hand or emotional support.

 Volunteer time to programs that help parents.

 Let all of the children in your life know that that they can depend on you.

 Advocate for community services to help families.

 Report suspected child abuse or neglect.

 Consider becoming a foster parent.
