Five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.

(Osgood, Ind.) - The Carson Hughes Foundation will be awarding five $1,000 scholarships to five graduating high school seniors in Southeastern Indiana this year.
These scholarships are given in honor of Carson’s life — his heart, his character, and the way he inspired others to live with kindness, integrity, determination, and purpose.
Those who possess the traits, values and attributes of Carson will be selected as the recipients.
Carson, a talented wildlife and nature photographer, was a senior at Jac-Cen-Del High School when he drowned in the Versailles State Park lake in March 2024. The Carson Hughes Foundation was established in his honor and memory. The fund provides scholarships to local seniors at all Ripley County High Schools, support athletics at Jac-Cen-Del High School, support programs that promote a love of photography and nature such as the Photography in Nature Summer Camp through Genesis Pathways for Success and also providing funding for conservation initiatives.
Applications for the Hughes Scholarship can be found at 2026 Carson Hughes Foundation Scholarship Application. The deadline to apply is April 3 at 11:59 p.m.
